Rx Rules
Elementary
school-age children in Baltimore County Public Schools are not permitted to take
prescription or non-prescription medication during school hours, except under
specific regulations. The Baltimore County Department of Health and the Board
of Education of Baltimore County sets these regulations. If you have any
questions, please call our school nurse, Mrs. Kathy Scheulen at 410-887-5177.
 |
The school nurse must give all
medication. |
 |
All medication sent to school must be
accompanied by a written order from the doctor. |
 |
Label all medication with the child’s
name, doctor’s name, name of medication, and dosage. Often the pharmacist
will give you another labeled bottle for the school nurse.
|
 |
If your child has poison ivy, you may
send Calamine Lotion to the school nurse. Please label the bottle with your
child’s name, and send a note giving parent permission to apply the
medication. |
 |
You may also send cough drops to school
with your child. A note from the parent should accompany the cough drops.
|
 |
Please turn in any health forms prior to
the third week in August. |
